Favorite Memory
I remember on November in the late 1990’s I was on my way to teach Ukrainian Dance in Barrhead and as I drove down the highway it was 21 degrees bright and sunny. I decided to stop at one of my favourite places to stop at Lac St. Anne on the North side to park and look over the lake. At the dock I parked my car and sat on the dock enjoying the hot summer temperature in November. As I looked across the water I noticed that the water was perfectly still, impossibly plate glass calm and I felt this incredible calmness inside. I then noticed that the sun was just above the horizon straight across from where I was sitting and its reflection was perfect on the water along with the entire panoramic scene. I can instantly remember it today as I think about it. After I returned to my car and I wrote a song about this moment called ‘November Summer’s Moment’. This was one of many special moments I had on my way to or from places where I taught Ukrainian Dance from 1977 to 2020.
